COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - A number of leading young guns who have already impressed in FIBA youth competitions will feature in the first ever Women's World Select Team at the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday April 8 at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, the ballers selected will be involved in a slice of history as the first participants of the maiden women's contest.

Several players have already shown their talents on the FIBA stage and not least, Toby Lee Fournier who excelled last year at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup. The high flying forward put everyone on notice with a shock dunk and went on to average a superb tournament double-double of more than 13 points and 11 boards per game.

The work of Fournier helped Canada make a run to the Semi-Finals of the competition and her teammates Delaney Gibb and Syla Swords will also step out alongside her again when the action gets underway in Portland. Fournier also played at the 2022 Basketball without Borders Americas and was an All-Star at the camp.

The impressive guard and wing work of Marine Dursus was pivotal in catapulting France onto the podium at the event in Hungary, pouring in almost 15 points per game to take her nation to the bronze medal.

Australian standouts Nyadiew Puoch and Shaneice Swain know what it is like to play in a FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup Final after claiming a silver medal in 2021.

The frontline lineup looks particularly strong, with the inclusion of the towering Japanese center Reina Fukuo who stands at  1.93m / 6ft 4in tall and caught the eye with her potential at the FIBA U16 Women's Asia Championship last year. She also played at the 2022 Basketball without Borders Asia and, just like Fournier from Canada, was an All-Star at the camp.
