FIBA Regional Office Asia organizes a referee camp in Aleppo

ALEPPO (Syria) - A referee camp was organized by the FIBA Regional Office - Asia from April 6-8 in in Aleppo, Syria.

The three-day camp was attended by 26 referees and included different activities, sessions with presentations by the instructor and video analysis group works to stimulate the decision making process of the referees. On the court, the referees practiced the three persons mechanics and two games were organized in which the participants had the opportunity to show their officiating skills and receive comments of the rooms to improve by the instructors.

"Based on our belief that refereeing is one of the most important factors for the success of basketball in Syria, we have raised the wages of refereeing and seek to establish courses and training camps for referees, such as the camp that was held during the past few days, in order to hone their skills, and increase confidence in them and their management for our leagues,"said Mr. Tarif Koutrach, president of Syrian Basketball Federation (SYRBF).

"This camp came in the very important time before the final stage of the Syrian Basketball League, it was an excellent chance to bridge the gap and link the practical with the theoretical practice,The camp was full of enthusiasm to reach the best level of refereeing in Syria, said Mr/ Maher Abu Helaneh, Syrian Basketball Federation (SYRBF) head of the referees committee. 

This  camp is a continuation of the plans set out by the Regional Office to improve the quality of officiating in the region, which in result will heighten the level of competition.
