FIBA Americas Board meeting goes virtual to conclude 2020

MIAMI (USA) - FIBA regional office Americas held its Zone Executive and Zone Board meetings virtually on December 10 and 11.

FIBA's President Hamane Niang and Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, together with key members of each National Federation in Americas, participated in various discussions to focus on the most pressing needs for 2021.

During these meetings, members of both Zone Executive Committee and Board received an update on a number of topics from the past six months, including the recent conclusion of the inaugural Basketball Champions League Americas season and the latest event, the FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Qualifiers that took place during this past month of November to successfully complete the window.

In addition to these past activities, the meetings also addressed key future topics including but not limited to protocols related to COVID-19 in upcoming events, the 3x3 and its development in the Americas, as well as the expansion of the Youth Development Programs, growth of FIBA Esports, and the rest of the Americas 2021 competition calendar.

The next Zone Executive Committee and Board meetings are scheduled to take place in March 2021.
