ABIDJAN - FIBA Africa's Women's Basketball Council held its third meeting of the 2014-2019 term on Wednesday in the Ivorian capital city of Abidjan.

The main topics discussed were the report of the global meeting on FIBA's New Governance and the strategy for the involvement of schools in the relaunch of women's basketball.

Bah Maimouna Diallo, who presided over the meeting, said: "As this is International Women's Day, this was a great opportunity to hold our meeting on this important day. We urge all women to get more involved in the management of the game."

While Diallo acknowledged that a lot has been achieved to promote women's basketball, she explained that more hard work is needed in order for women to hold more presence in the decision-making bodies.

"I hope that after this meeting the recommendations we will submit to our Executive Board will increase the number of women in its decision-making bodies," she said. "My biggest expectation is to have more women among the technical officials, especially in refereeing and coaching."
