FIBA 3x3 World Tour players shine at 2015 European Games

BAKU (2015 European Games) - The 3x3 event was one of the highlights of the first-ever European Games and the show doesn't have to end for all 3x3 basketball fans. Two-thirds of the men's medallists have played at FIBA 3x3's flagship event - the FIBA 3x3 World Tour - which will start on 1 August in Manila, Philippines.

What do Russia's Aleksandr Pavlov, Spain's Juan Vasco Trabado and Serbia's Dusan Domovic Bulut have in common? A medal at the European Games, an appearance in the Top 10 Plays of the tournament and past appearances at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.

Including Pavlov's team-mates Andrey Kanygin and Leo Lagutin plus Bulut's Dejan Majstorovic, Marko Savic and Marko Zdero, this is a total of 8 medallists who played at the city-based event since its launch in 2012.

Considering the top 10 teams in Baku, 8 of them featured at least one World Tour alumni. Three of these alumni went 1-2-3 in the scoring charts (Majstorovic, Jure Erzen (Slovenia) and Pavlov), showing the overall level of the 3x3 tournament, which will consist of 6 Masters events and a Final in Abu Dhabi on 15-16 October, with a total prize money of 200k USD.

A total of 25 players (out of the 64 competing in Baku) have starred in the World Tour before. 5 of them have already earned their ticket for the 2015 edition (Greece's Grigorios Rallatos for the Prague Masters and the reigning champs, Team NoviSad AlWahda (featuring all four Serbian national team players) for Prague but also the Manila and Beijing Masters). The rest? They will battle it out in the next weeks to earn their precious ticket to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
