EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women 2021-22 season clubs confirmed

MUNICH (Germany) - FIBA Europe announced on Wednesday the clubs that will take part in the EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women during the 2021-22 season as well as those that will participate in the Qualifiers.

The draws for both competitions will take place in Freising, Germany on Thursday, August 19.

EuroLeague Women

A total of 20 clubs registered for the 2021-22 season of women's flagship club competition, with 14 of those awarded a direct place in the Regular Season.

The two remaining spots will be determined in two round-robin Qualifiers tournaments of three clubs each. The winners of the two tournaments will qualify for the Regular Season.

In order to play the EuroCup Women Regular Season in two geographical conferences, in accordance with that competition's regulations, the six clubs are split according to their geographical proximity to those conferences.

Therefore, Bellona Kayseri BasketbolKSC Szekszard and ACS Sepsi-SIC will play in a Qualifiers tournament that will feed into EuroCup Women Conference 1.  Meanwhile, Tango Bourges Basket, Valencia Basket and Famila Basket Schio will play in the other Qualifiers tournament that will feed into EuroCup Women Conference 2.

The 2nd- and 3rd-placed clubs in each Qualifier tournament will automatically be seeded in the Regular Season of the EuroCup Women, in their respective conference.

The Qualifiers tournaments will take place between September 20 and September 24.

EuroCup Women

A total of 57 clubs registered for the 2021-22 season of EuroCup Women and, with the addition of the four clubs that will join the competition from the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers, the total number of participants rises to  61 clubs.

The Regular Season will be played with 48 teams, comprising 12 groups of four teams each.  A total of 35 clubs are placed directly in the Regular Season (18 in Conference 1 and 17 in Conference 2) while 26 teams will compete in the Qualifiers, split in pairings, to determine the remaining 13 participants.

The clubs are divided into two conferences based on geographical proximity but also depending on the number of clubs registered per country.
