EuroBasket Women 2015 co-hosts Romania make a call on final 12

BUCHAREST (EuroBasket Women 2015) - EuroBasket Women 2015 co-hosts Romania have selected the 12 players who will tip off their campaign in front of a passionate local crowd in Timisoara.

The list selected by head coach Florin Nini is headlined by Gabriela Marginean and also includes a number of veteran players such as Florina Pascalau, who was the first Romania player to gain WNBA court-time.

Annemarie Parau, who made a EuroBasket Women debut way back in 2001, will pull the strings from the backcourt and there are also slots for the highly-rated Claudia Pop and Sonia Ursu who both posted very productive youth careers and are preparing to shine on the senior stage.

Meanwhile, Gabriela Irimia has been rewarded for her excellent form during the preparation games. Having not been expected to be included when the candidate list was drawn up, she has rocketed to prominence.

Anca Sipos and Cristina Cutas both miss out, as does Cristina Bigica which is a little more of a surprise, since the Marquette player had been expected to play a role off the bench after being a big factor for the Romania youth teams.

Romania will tussle with Czech Republic, Ukraine, France and Montenegro in Group A.

Romania final roster for EuroBasket Women 2015: Alina Craciun, Gabriela Cursaru, Gabriela Irimia, Gabriela Marginean, Andreea Olah-Orosz, Annemarie Parau, Florina Pascalau, Eliszabeth Pavel, Claudia Pop, Adina Stoedin, Anca Stoenescu, Sonia Ursu.
