Draw Results in for FIBA Americas U18 Championships
VALDIVIA (Americas U18 Championship) - The Official Draws of the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championships were held this afternoon at the Sports Museum of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The tournament will be played in the Valdivia, Chile on July 13-23.
The 8 national teams from the Americas region were divided into two groups of four teams each to be played in a round robin format.
The groups for the FIBA Americas U18 Women’s Championship to be played on July 13-17 were drawn as follows:
Group A: USA, Brazil, Venezuela, Guatemala
Group B: Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile

The groups for the FIBA Americas U18 Men’s Championship to be played on July 19-23 were drawn as follows:
Group A: Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic
Group B: USA, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Chile

The top two teams from each group advance to the Semifinal Phase where winners will play for the gold medal of the championship. The losing teams will play for third place.
After the conclusion of the Group Phase, teams in third and fourth place of each group will play for reclassification 5-8. The top four teams in each championship will qualify for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.
USA won the previous edition of both Men and Women’s Championship that were played in 2014 in Colorado Springs, USA.
