LUANDA (Africa Champions Cup) - So far Six teams have qualified for this year’s 12-team Africa Champions Cup (ACC), but a few more are currently keeping busy to join the continent’s flagship clubs competition.

The event will run from 10 to 20 December in the Angolan capital city of Luanda.

Running from 4 to 7 November in Rades, Tunisia, five clubs - Club Africain and Etoile Sportive Radés (both from Tunisia), Al Ittihad and Al Nasr SC (both from Libya) and Moroccan side FAR Rabat - compete for the two places on offer for Africa Zone 1 clubs.

So far, Etoile Sportive Rades - runners-up at 2014 ACC -, lead the way with two wins in as many games while FAR Rabat comes second with a 1-1 mark.

In the Western part of the African continent, five clubs are expected to do battle in Cotonou, Benin, from 6 to 11 November to join the ACC - Africa’s club elite competition.

Meanwhile, last month, Egyptian side Gezira had no trouble clinching top the spot at Zone 5 and guarantee a place in final round.

Egypt's ace Omar Oraby has not played in the qualifiers due to a face injured suffered at 2015 All-African Games held in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, but he can wait to get back on the court.

“We can do well in Luanda," he told FIBA.com.

“Our team is a mix of veteran players and young players, but we can run and down the floor.

The North Africans edged out hosts City Oilers 75-73 in in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala last month while Espoir claimed a third-place thanks to a 82-77 win over Tiger Head.

As a result Gezira joins ASCUT (Madagascar), Mozambique champions Desportivo de Maputo and a trio of Angolan teams Petro de Luanda, ACC reigning champions Libolo and hosts Primeiro D’Agosto.
