Cote d'Ivoire set to implement FIBA's new development program

ABIDJAN - After Rwanda, Senegal, Kenya, and Uganda, Cote d'Ivoire has become the fifth African country to implement FIBA's new development program for national federations.

Eleven African countries with high development potential are set to benefit from the quadrennial program.

During the two-day workshop session held in Abidjan (July 12-13) hosted by FIBA Africa president of National Federations’ council Jean Michel Ramaroson, the official emphasized to Ivorian basketball stakeholders the importance of the program that will eventually help the federations manage their activities more effectively.

Florian Pasquet, FIBA National Federations, and Sports Manager stressed that in the first phase - to be executed in 2018 -, FIBA will assist FIBA will assist the Ivorian Basketball Federation to establish  the timeline of the  immediate development actions.

The second phase of the program, which will begin in 2019, will consist of the development of a strategic development plan about Management and Strategy, Governance, Finance and Administration, Technic and Competitions, Marketing and Communication, and will be implemented after the signing of a tripartite agreement between FIBA, the Ministry of Sports and the Basketball Federation.

FIBA will continue to implement this program in other beneficiary African countries, namely Mali, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, and South Africa.
