    Cote d'Ivoire mourn death of Alassane Meite

    ABIDJAN - The Cote d'Ivoire basketball community was left in shock following the death of Alassane Meite on Wednesday in their capital of Abidjan.

    ABIDJAN - The Cote d'Ivoire basketball community was left in shock following the death of Alassane Meite on Wednesday in their capital of Abidjan.

    The 25-year-old, who played for local giants Abidjan Basketball Club (ABC), was admitted to Cocody University Hospital on Wednesday after feeling unwell but was later pronounced dead. 

    According to the local media, Meite was reportedly in "great shape". The cause of his death is not yet known.

    The 1.85m point guard was part of the Ivoirian national team that claimed a 2-3 mark at FIBA AfroBasket 2015 in Tunisia.
