Costa Rica implements strategic plan for the development of basketball

SAN JOSE (Costa Rica) - Efforts to develop basketball in Costa Rica are a priority for the Costa Rican Basketball Federation (FECOBA), for that reason the National Federation implemented a new National Basketball Strengthening Plan "Towards an Inclusive and Competitive Evolution".

This is a strategic plan that seeks to set a goal for the development of Costa Rican basketball. This strategic orientation that the Federation has been promoting was an agreement on the part of its Board of Directors, which also approved the inclusion of the Strategic Planning Commission to strengthen and support project compliance.

Among the important points that the project seeks is the inclusion of all the actors that are involved around the sport, the purpose is to collect the voices to be able to grow equitably and that their different ideas manage to make the project evolve.

As part of the project, we will seek to involve new interinstitutional actors, which are necessary for integral growth, as they are from the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce to the National Congress, so that with its weight this is considered as a need at the country level.

"Costa Rica is open to this type of space, we open the doors to the federations of the world to be part of this initiative to promote bonds of friendship to promote the competitiveness of basketball. It is not only an exchange of knowledge but a cultural exchange which Costa Rica is willing to open for all those who like to open their doors, "said Jack Torres, Vice President of FECOBA.

Infrastructure as a sport is also a need that this project seeks to encompass, that is why FECOBA, within the plan, should serve as a vehicle to coordinate efforts to boost the capacity of basketball nationwide.

"The importance of promoting this strategy from the base to the major teams is that in the short, medium and long term, Costa Rica will increase its competitive level of basketball to be located in the concert of the World Cup nations and get to compete in the different categories both male and female, "Torres said in FIBA.basketball.

One of the strengths of the strategy is focused on knowledge management, to increase the capacity of those who actively participate in the sport. From the fact of intergenerational learning where coaches with extensive experience can share and transfer their knowledge to the youngest.

However, this knowledge management also seeks to strengthen ties of friendship with different federations and organizations around the city, to look for spaces of exchange between players, technical bodies and leaders. That is why FECOBA opens its doors and invites all those who want to be part of this international project.

"We are very hopeful for the development of this strategy, in returning to the basketball family the confidence and credibility necessary to achieve the goals we all want. We have to add voices and wills to achieve the desired goals in the short, medium and long term; We are going to carry out positive participation forums where we can establish the necessary foundations to build this strategy, selected seniors, referees, coaches, former directors and parents of selected minors have much to contribute and will add their experience, "said Vice President FECOBA, Franklin Martínez Arias, in FIBA.basketball.

Costa Rica is not exempt from the economic situation that the city is going through, which is why FECOBA has sought to promote this sport as a local economic development project that includes social, health, education and economic aspects for the progress of the communities.

"Now we add to our slogan" Together We Are More "a new one that will change the course and that we have called" The Route of Change ". I believe in the ability of our new partner Jack Torres, to orchestrate this line of work for the good of basketball and I strongly support him, "added the Costa Rican leader.

All this is intended that Costa Rica is a hotbed of export talent and can provide options in the educational and social field to improve the living conditions of Costa Rican athletes.
