    Chinese Taipei edge Korea in friendly

    JINCHEON (2015 FIBA Asia Championship) - There are still several weeks to go before the start of the FIBA Asia Championship but national teams are stepping up their preparations.

    Chinese Taipei and Korea are among them.

    The two sides have squared off against each other in a friendly and Chinese Taipei scraped a 79-76 victory.

    In a game played at the Jincheon national training facility, Quincy Davis, Zeng Wending, Wu Tai-hao, Tien Lei and Lin Zhijie all turned out for the winners and overcame a Korean side that got 10 points, three assists and two steals from Lee Jonghyun.

    Kim Dong-Kwang, the Korea coach, won't be pressing any alarm buttons after the defeat because he wanted wanted to evaluate all of his players and even rested Moon Taeyoung, Kim Taesol and Cho Sungmin.

    He has yet to settle on his final roster for the Asia Championship (23 September - 3 October), where Korea will take be in Group C with Jordan, Singapore and China.

    "We have to reflect on the game and ourselves," the coach said.

    "We have to be tougher in the low post."

    As for the tough decision on squad selection that are ahead, Kim said: "We will see who survives to the end.

    "I'll take a look at my players in the next 3 friendly games."

    Korea did not win a game at last year's FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain but did play well in spurts.

    Korea rebounded by winning the Asia Games as the host nation.

    Kim will be evaluating his charges on Thursday when the teams meet once again in Jincheon.
