Chinese delegation visits FIBA Europe office

MUNICH (Germany) - The FIBA Europe office in Munich welcomed a group of Chinese delegates from the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on Friday.

After an official two-day debrief on the 32-team flagship event at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, the Chinese delegation arrived to Munich to learn more about how basketball is organized in Europe and the reasons behind the success of European teams at the World Cup.

The delegation included Wang Xuan, Standing Vice President and Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 and Chen Jie, Vice President and Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, along with other delegates from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 LOC and the Host Cities.

Also present was FIBA Vice President and Chairman of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Coordination Committee, Burton Shipley.

They met with FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak, FIBA Europe Properties Managing Director Monika Puchner and other FIBA representatives.

Spain captured their second FIBA Basketball World Cup title in China

The most recent edition of the World Cup proved greatly successful for European teams, with Spain topping Argentina in the Final to capture the Naismith Trophy in Beijing and France finishing third.

In total, five of the eight teams to reach the Quarter-Final stage in the World Cup were from Europe, with Serbia, Czech Republic and Poland also going far in the competition.
