Celebrations take place across the globe to mark International Women's Day 2019
MIES (Switzerland) - The global FIBA basketball family on Friday joined forces by taking to social media to celebrate International Women's Day.
Canada national team standout and WNBA star, Kia Nurse used her platform as one of the biggest names in the women's game to inspire the next generation.

Liz Cambage is an iconic figure for the female game and the Opals' center was at Twitter's HQ in Australia, which underlines her influence and profile.
The WNBA took time to put this post together which emphasized how females are heroes both on and off the basketball court.
International Women's Day also provided an ideal platform to promote the #HerWorldHerRules initiative that was launched earlier this year by FIBA to encourage more young girls to play basketball.
Women are inspirational in so many ways. Be dedicated, be consistent, be determined 🙌. #HerWorldHerRules #IWD2019 @KSSrbije @EuroBasketWomen
