MIES (FIBA World Ranking) - The United States, Spain, France, Australia, Russia and Argentina continue to occupy the top six spots in the FIBA World Ranking Combined following another year of international competition but there has been movement elsewhere.

Canada climbed two spots to No. 7 after winning the 2015 FIBA Americas Women's Championship in Edmonton to qualify for the Rio de Janeiro Games and coming in third in the men's 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City.

Just as Canada's men will compete in a FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament next year, so will Italy, who moved up two spots in the combined ranking to No. 17.

The men's team finished sixth at EuroBasket 2015, where they played games in Berlin, Germany, and Lille, France.

Latvia, who hosted EuroBasket 2015 Group Phase games in Riga and made it to the Quarter-Finals before ending up in eighth place, rose three rungs on the combined ranking ladder to No.20.

The biggest mover in the top 30 was Venezuela, who jumped nine places to No. 28 on the strength of the men's team's famous title triumph at the FIBA Americas Championship.

Bosnia and Herzegovina enjoyed a quantum leap of 22 spots to No. 43. The country won the U16 European Championship in Lithuania.

The combined ranking takes into account the points of all categories (Men, Women, Boys, Girls) in the given cycle.

Algeria and Gabon each advanced to the Quarter-Finals of AfroBasket 2015 and have jumped 11 places each to No. 63 and No. 82, respectively.

The Algerians' most important win came against Cameroon.

The Philippines, who reached the Final of the men's FIBA Asia Championship for the second successive time, rose four points to No. 41 in the combined ranking.

A country in Oceania region has also enjoyed a substantial climb as Tahiti moved up 12 places to No. 96.

Romania suffered the biggest fall in the combined ranking, dropping 28 points to No. 108, while Cape Verde, who were upset by Gabon in the Round of 16, slipped 18 points to No. 100.
