Brassard to present ''planning effective training'' in webinar presentation

Gold Coast (Australia) - The FIBA Oceania Coaching Webinar series continues on Thursday (April 16) with WNBL champion coach, Claudia Brassard to present "planning effective training" for teams.

Brassard, a 2000 Olympian graciously accepted the offer to talk about coaching and share her knowledge with the National Federation members in the region.

"I’ve been going through some old training sessions and reviewing some of my notes in preparation for this webinar. I love talking about basketball so I’m sure the time will go by quickly during the presentation," she shared.

The former captain of Canada's national basketball team, Brassard has coached at various levels in her career and will be conducting the webinar in French to provide a more accessible platform for the French-speaking nations in the Pacific.

"I have been coaching at various levels from juniors to professional since I retired from the game in 2007," Brassard said. "During that time I have adapted my training sessions and learned to construct them to make the most of our precious time at training but also ensure the athletes are enjoying themselves in a competitive environment."

Brassard emphasized that she will be creating a presentation that will be favorable to all levels of coaching and hopes that all the participants will learn and adapt it to their coaching style.

"I will try to cater for all levels of coaching, to hopefully capture a wider audience. The basketball community keeps us all connected in these challenging times so I am looking forward to it," Brassard said.

"I’m hoping the ideas will help reinforce some of the things coaches are doing already," she added.

The coaching workshop by Claudia Brassard is part of a series of online webinars organized by FIBA in the Gold Coast.
