Bibbs added to USA roster after concussion forces Briscoe out of U19 Worlds

COLORADO SPRINGS (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Justin Bibbs was added to the United States roster for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship as a last minute replacement after Isaiah Briscoe suffered a concussion during US practice and was ruled out of the tournament.

The Virginia Tech guard Bibbs will be making his international debut with the United States after being one of the final cuts from the 12-man roster for the team which will compete in Greece from 27 June-5 July.

"I feel very bad for Isaiah. He had a tremendous attitude and was one of our overall best players and one of our leaders of the team," said USA U19 head coach Sean Miller.

"It is very, very unfortunate to see him get injured in what was really a two-on-two drill. But the good news is I know he'll recover and be fine. The bad news is he won't be able to play on our team."

Briscoe, who was one of three American players on the U19 team who helped the USA to the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship title, had been named to the USA roster Wednesday evening and then suffered the concussion in practice Thursday morning.

Bibbs meanwhile will help the team in many areas, Miller said.

"I think he brings a quickness and a veteran type of mindset that will really benefit us moving forward. And in our style of play where we are pressing and really pushing the ball he is a tremendous athlete, and I think he’ll really add a quality that we need, especially loosing Isaiah."

USA roster for 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship: Justin Bibbs, Jalen Brunson, Jawun Evans, Terrance Ferguson, Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, Chinanu Onauku, L.J. Peak, Caleb Swanigan, Jayson Tatum, Allonzo Trier, Thomas Welsh.
