Basketball Australia CEO Rechter handed Queen's Birthday Honor

MELBOURNE (Australia) - The Chief Executive Officer of Basketball Australia, Jerril Rechter, has been handed the prestigious Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Issued in the recent Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honors List, she has been recognized for her significant service to community health, to sports administration, and to the arts.

"I am surprised, honored and truly humbled to be receiving this award," commented Rechter.

"I consider it a privilege to be able to contribute to the sectors and industries I have during my career to date. Serving the community is an honour.

"The organisations I have led and continue to be involved with, engender a vision for an improved society. Their core purpose, exceptional values and desire to enhance community is at their heart.

"This award is also recognition for the wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and the extraordinary effects and achievements of a great many," she added.

Prior to picking up the reins at Basketball Australia, Rechter held senior leadership positions with various organizations - all linked to health, the community and the arts. She is also currently making significant contributions to a range of state, national and international organizations in a non-executive capacity.
