Asian Games 2018 hosts grouped with defending champions after draw

JAKARTA (Asia Games 2018) - The groups of the Basketball Tournament of the Asian Games VXIII -2018 which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia have been drawn, pitting the top basketball nations of Asia against each other.

 The 15 participating nations for the Men’s tournament were drawn into 4 groups; Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D.

 Host Nation Indonesia were grouped with the defending champions, Korea, in Group A. The other two teams in the group are Mongolia and Thailand.

 Group B features Asian Games 2014 Silver Medalists, Iran. They will be playing against Philippines, Syria, and United Arab Emirates in this round.

 2014 Bronze Medalists Japan are pitted in Group C along with Qatar, Chinese-Taipei, and Hong Kong.

 In Group D, All-Time Asian Games leader in Men’s Basketball Gold Medals China were drawn with Palestine and Kazakhstan.

 The Women’s tournament will have 10 competing nations, drawn into 2 groups; Group X and Group Y.

 Group X is highlighted by Host Nation Indonesia along with Defending Gold Medalists Korea. The group is rounded up with Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, and India.

 The 2014 Silver Medalists China and Bronze Medalists Japan were drawn into Group Y. They are joined by Thailand, Hong Kong, and Mongolia.
