FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship 2018 logo unveiled

BENGALURU (FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship 2018) - The official logo for the FIBA U18  Women's Asian Championship 2018 has been unveiled.

The Elephant (Elephas maximus indicus), along with being one of the most abounding animals in the vibrant and varied wildlife on Indian sub-continent, holds a position of very high importance and significance in Indian culture.

The Elephant which represents one of the most popular Gods of Hindu religion, is renowned for its elegance and grace but more importantly for its enormous restraint of its obvious colossal strength.

The Elephant is also the official state animal of Karnataka – Bengaluru, the host city of the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship 2018 is the capital city of Karnataka.

The motif of twin elephants with their trunks raised is very frequently used as a symbol of auspiciousness and ushering in of good times.

Seen together with the twin motifs “tipping off” the basketball is the ideal representation of the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship, an event that certainly is the launch pad for numerous future super stars of Asian women’s basketball.

The event will take place in Bengaluru, India from 28 October to 3 November 2018. Sixteen (16) teams will be divided into two Divisions, A & B. 

The FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship also serves as a qualifier for the FIBA U19 Basketball Women's Basketball World Cup 2019. The Four in Bengaluru will go on to represent Asia/Oceania in Bangkok next year.
