Asia Regional Office archives milestone with first ever statisticians workshop in Maldives

MALE (Maldives) - The FIBA Regional Office – Asia held a statisticians workshop from December 7-8 in Male, Maldives.

The two-day event was the first ever statisticians workshop held in Maldives, making it the first time that the country will have FIBA licensed statisticians.

Maldives are now the second country to have FIBA licensed statisticians for the first time in this calendar year, joining Uzbekistan after the workshop held in October. This marks a notable milestone achieved by the Regional Office with Asia now having 29 of 44 countries that have FIBA licensed statisticians.

“This workshop, and more like these in the future, will help elevate the game and the data behind it,” said Ahmed Adam, Maldives Basketball Association President. “This is a historic milestone that will pave the way for a new generation of FIBA certified officials across all technicalities of the game we love in Maldives.”

The workshop is part of the Regional Office’s continuous efforts to improve the different departments of its national federations, including the statisticians, who are becoming an integral part of basketball games.
