Arroyo puts on a show, clinches All-Star MVP honor

ANKARA (TBL All-Star Ankara 2015) - Puerto Rico's Carlos Arroyo has been playing some of the finest basketball of his career since moving to the Turkish Basketball League (TBL) following the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship.

After shining for a season with Besiktas, he joined Galatasaray and has been a huge hit ever since.

The veteran point guard added another achievement to his famous career on Sunday when he was voted MVP of the TBL All-Star Ankara 2015 by the attending media.

Arroyo led Team Europe to a 138-130 triumph over Team Asia.

Showing all the razzle and dazzle that has helped him become one of the most exciting guards in international basketball, Arroyo had a triple double in points (14), assists (22) and rebounds (11).

"I'm very excited and very happy for this opportunity to be in the All-Star Game with these great players," Arroyo said.

Cedi Osman, who is having a breakout campaign with Anadolu Efes following his debut with the national side at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, led Team Europe in scoring with 20 points.

Giant center Semih Erden, who is trying to return to his top form with Fenerbahce, poured in a game-high 24 points for Team Asia in defeat.

Entertainment is the name of the game at All-Star weekends and there was plenty of it for the 10,000 spectators who watched Sunday's event in Ankara.

Michael Jenkins of Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi won the three-point shooting contest, beating John Shurna and Lithuania international Renaldas Seibutis (both Darussafaka Dogus) in the Final Round.

Kenny Gabriel of Pınar Karsiyaka, who had a between-the-legs slam while wearing a Karsiyaka-themed ski mask, was the winner of the dunk contest.

Turkey national team veteran Sinan Guler of Galatasaray and another of his country's rising stars in the national team set-up, Furkan Korkmaz of Efes, as well as Czech Republic and Fenerbahce big man Jan Vesely took part in the dunk contest.
