URU - Trouville capture title in Uruguay

MONTEVIDEO (LUB) - Trouville clinched their first Uruguay title in 61 years by beating Aguada 87-73 on Monday.

Alejandro 'Yayo' Gonzalez's men swept the best-of-five game series 3-0.

Marcel Bouzout poured in 31 points for Trouville while Diego Losada had 22 in defeat.
There were 10,000 spectators in the Cilindro Municipal gym, Uruguay's biggest, to watch the conquest of Trouville.

Aguada trailed 41-39 at half-time but Trouville started to pull away in their third quarter and held a 71-60 advantage with 10 minutes to play.

Aguada went on a 7-0 run to draw closer but Juliano Rivera's three-pointer stemmed the tide for Trouville who held on.

"We did not think in a victory for more than 15 points-difference, but this sport is thus. We played well," said Bouzout.

"When we were losing we woke up. We matched great. I am very happy for this championship", he added.

The first and second games of finished 81-55 and 76-70 in Trouville's favour.

The LUB was created in the 2003-04 campaign.
In 2004, it was won by Defensor Sporting, while Salto Uruguay captured the crown in 2004-05.

Before the LUB, the Uruguayan domestic league was called the Torneo Federal.
Trouville won that league in 1945.
