PUR – List of players being considered for Puerto Rico national team duty

PONCE (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Carlos Arroyo and JJ Barea headline a 41-strong list of players that expect to be considered for Puerto Rico national team duty this summer.

Barea was injured and unable to compete for Manolo Cintron's team at last year's FIBA Americas Championship in San Juan but he is a near certainty to be in the squad when Puerto Rico play at the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

In the Preliminary Round, Puerto Rico will take on Greece, China, Russia, the Ivory Coast and hosts Turkey in Ankara.

Veteran shooting guard Larry Ayuso is on the list, as is one of the Puerto Ricans' surprises at the 2008 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Javier Mojica - a player that did not compete in last year's FIBA Americas Championship.

According to the FIBA Americas website, Puerto Rico team manager Agustín Díaz has presented the list for consideration to the new president of the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation, Carlos Beltran.

"The list will have changes and as time goes by it will have some cuts," Diaz said.

"We expect to have at least 25 players called for the official practices."

List of 41 players: Guillermo Díaz, Jorge Bryan Díaz, Filiberto Rivera, Víctor Dávila, Carlos Arroyo, Andrés Rodríguez, Christian Dalmau, Ángel Daniel Vassallo, Joel Jones Camacho, Carmelo Antrone Lee, Alex Galindo, Luis Villafañe, Angel "Buster" Figueroa, Daniel Santiago, Jesse Pellot, Peter John Ramos, David Huertas, Ricky Sánchez, David Cortés, Larry Ayuso, James Life, Luis Colón, Rick Apodaca, Angelo Reyes, Alphonse Dyer, José Juan Barea, Manuel De Jesús, Nathan Peavy, Ramón Clemente, Mike Rosario, Javier Mojica, Edwin Ubiles, Kevin Hamilton. Manuel Narváez, Dennis Clemente, Carlos Rivera, Paul Graham, Angel "Piwi" García, John Holland, Carlos Strong and Richard Chaney.
