NGR - Lagos teams in impressive form

ABEOKUTA (National Sports Festival) - Lagos State male and female basketball team continues their impressive form in the basketball event of the 15th National Sports Festival winning their second straight games in style.

The male team took on star-studded Kaduna in what could easily pass as the star-match of Sunday games as the encounter drew one of the largest crowds so far in the festival which enters its fourth-day today.

Both side had ended the first quarter 12 points apiece with Lagos shoting into the lead in the second quarter with a six points gap of 19-13 points for a first stanza scores of 31-25 points.

The third quarter was keenly contested as both side once again settle for an even score of 20 points each, Lagos soon capitalized on the seven-man rotation of their Kaduna counterpart by introducing frequent fast breaks in the last quarter which eventually break down the Kaduna boys that parades reigning NBBF/Vmobile challenge Most Valuable Player, Louis Edem Ekpeyong and Lagos City League MVP, Ejike Ugboaja to further extend the lead adding another 8 points for a cumulative scores of 72-58 points.

The Lagos female team on the other hand out-dunked Katsina State 70-12 points in what could go for a training match. The Adewumi Aderemi and Sola Ogunade tutored side have today as it off day.

In other matches played Sunday, Imo defeated Abia State 50-39 points in an oriental battle in one of the female games decided so far.
