KAZ – Barsy take on Tobol in Finals

ATYRAU/ASTANA (KNL Leagues) - Last year’s runners-up Tobol Kostanay and regular season champions Barsy Atyrau completed 3-0 sweeps of their semi-final opponents to set up a clash for the title.

Tobol sealed their place in the championship series by beating six-time defending champions Astana Tigers 74-70 at home, while Barsy prevailed over Kaspiy Aktau 72-68 on road to reach the finals for the first time.

The first game of the best-of-five finals is on 3 May.

Edgar Chunda had 11 points and 11 rebounds in leading Barsy to victory, while Pavel Ilin and Sergey Stroilov contributed 10 points each.

Gytis Andrijauskas had 21 points to lead all scorers, but was not enough for Kaspiy.

Similarly, Dmitriy Gavrilov’s game-high 23 points for Astana went in a losing cause.

Pavel Mikheev led Tobol’s win with 16 points. Evgeniy Gorev added 14 points and Aleksandr Golubev chipped in with 13.
