CHN - Jiangsu knock Guangdong from ranks of unbeaten

BEIJING (CBA) - Guangdong suffered their first loss of the Chinese basketball league season at home to Jiangsu.

The defending champions played at home but still lost 92-91 in a nailbiting affair.

The win means that Jiangsu are now new leaders of the CBA on points difference with both having won eight of their nine games.

The hero for the visitors was Tang Zhengdong with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while national team star Yi Jianlian's 26 points were in vain for the hosts.

Three teams are still tied for third place, all with 7-2 records.

Twenty-six points by Luo Zhi helped Zhejiang Wanma thump Shanxi Zhongyu 124-94, while Shanghai had Reggie Okosa to thank as he netted 29 points in his team's 113-102 triumph at Xinjiang.

Lorenzo Coleman scored 30 points and 15 rebounds, but they were not enough against a determined visiting team.

The other team in third-place is Liaoning, who beat Dongguan 112-92 at home. Earnest Brown had a major role to play in the win as he weighed in with 28 points and 18 rebounds.

Elsewhere, Fujian beat Jilin 105-94, with Gong Songlin scoring 26 points to maintain their 6-3 record.

Four teams have 5-4 records after Friday's games, Xinjiang who lost to Shanghai, Jilin who were outgunned by Fujian, Shangdong and Bayi.

Shangdong had the highest scorer of the night to thank for their 110-104 victory at Yunnan. Mack Tuck scored 31 points with seven rebounds as the hosts failed to contain his superb form.

In the night's other games, Shanxi Hansi beat Zhejiang Guangsha 82-81.

Guangsha are one of two teams yet to register a win 0-9 records.

The other is Zhongyu.

Bayi improved to a 5-4 record after a 93-80 home success over Beijing.

China national team center Wang Zhizhi scored 23 points and had 19 rebounds for the hosts, while Jiao Jian netted 20 points in a losing cause.
