PORT MORESBY (FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup 2017) - The draw for the Group Phase of the FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup 2017 to be played in Papua New Guinea's Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre from September 27-30 has been announced.

The four (4) men's and four (4) women's teams participating in this year’s event are as follows:
Men: Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands
Women: Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands

The top two (2) teams will advance to the Gold Medal game, where 3rd and 4th will play off for Bronze.

The FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup 2017 are qualifying events for the 2019 Pacific Games. From this event, teams will qualify to take part in FIBA's Competition System & Calendar 2017+.
