Papua New Guinea's Muri leading the way in his final campaign

PAPUA NEW GUINEA (FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup 2017) - Papua New Guinea's Dia Muri has been a staple of the PNG national team for many years, he will lead his country for the final time during the FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup.

His final campaign with PNG is off to a flying start after a 43 point victory over the Solomon Islands. FIBA.basketball caught up with Muri to get his thoughts after the game.

"It's truly humbling and a great privilege to have represented my country," said Muri. "Plenty of people want to play for their country and don't, so it's an honour."

Muri expressed his desire to help this PNG team make it to the Pacific Games in 2019

"It means a lot, 2019 is close, these games are a pathway to the Pacific Games. It was close at the beginning of this game because of nerves but it was great to get a win."

Muri expressed once again his love and passion for his country and their national team.

"It's an honour Wearing the colours. It's not about me it's about everyone."

PNG will hit the floor next against New Caledonia so make sure you stay tuned to FIBA.basketball/melanesiacup/2017.
