Berazategui qualified to the Final 4 of the Women's South American League

BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) – On the last day of Group C of the Women's South American League, Berazategui defeated Quimsa 46-45, achieving its ticket to the Final 4. Anyway, Consubasquet's Executive Committee decided to postpone the matches of Group A (to be played in Chile) and the tournament's definition due to the progress of the pandemic. They'll meet again in July to evaluate the situation.

This result made it impossible for the team from Santiago del Estero to qualify as the best second, because the difference between scored points and received points was +22; two less than Leonas Guaraníes' +24.

Quimsa had the last possession and could have won, but Luciana Delabarba missed. The point guard was, nonetheless, the top scorer of the night with 13 points. On the victory's side, Candela Gentinetta scored the most, with 11.

In the first match, and in an encounter between teams that had not won a match so far, Victoria Cogarol beat Leonas Guaraníes 57-48.

Once the day ended, Consubasquet issued a statement announcing the postponement of Group A and of the tournament's definition.

In its most important sections, the text highlights that "due to the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic in all South America that directly affects the participation of clubs and host cities of the Women's South American League, the Executive Committee, after deeply analyzing the report provided by the South American League Commission, decided to postpone the matches from both Group A and the Final Four."

"Likewise, the South American League Commission will meet with the participants on the first week of July so as to evaluate the public health situation and propose a new date for the matches of said zone and for the tournament's definition."
