CORDOBA (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018) - Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba (Argentina) confirmed its roster for its participation in Group A of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol 2018, which will begin on October 2, at the Pedrocao de Franca Stadium, Brazil.

Group A will also feature the Leones de Quilpué (Chile), Aguada (Uruguay) and the local, Franca (Brazil).

Guard Luciano González, who was called by coach Sergio Hernandez, to integrate the Argentina team in the last windows of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers, has become one of the benchmarks of the club by averaging 13.6 points in the last campaign. They also include the well-known Pablo Espinoza and the reinforcements Leandro García Morales and Sam Clancy.

The Cordovan team was a semifinalist in the last season of the Liga Nacional de Argentina, reason why they earned a spot in the Liga Sudamericana.

"La Sudamericana is an important tournament. If we play at a good level, we have chances to qualify. You have to be prepared for each of the three days because a bad result can leave you out," said coach Facundo Muller.

"The group is very difficult. Franca and Aguada are two historical teams from Brazil and Uruguay. The team from Chile, Leones, strengthened very well. Therefore, our international debut will be of maximum demand ", added the DT.

The Liga Sudamericana, in which the Horacio Muratore Cup is disputed, starts on October 2 and its first phase will extend until the 24th of the same month, with the action of four preliminary groups that will be hosted by the cities of Franca, Brazil; Macas, Ecuador; Cali, Colombia and Montevideo, Uruguay.

The first two (2) teams of Groups A, C and D, together with the best third team of these three groups, will qualify to the Semifinal Phase. Group B will Qualify the top team to the Semifinal Phase.

In the Semifinal Phase, the eight (8) teams will be divided into two (2) groups of four (4) teams each, that will play round-robin format for three (3) days. The best team from each group will advance to the Final.

The Final will be played in a best of three (3) series where the champion of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018 will be crowned.

The champion of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana will qualify to the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas 2019.
