BAHIA (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017) – Group C of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana will have everything on the line on the last day of competition, after Guaros defeated Malvin and Estudiantes Concordia defeated Universo/Vitoria on Day 2 of the preliminary group.

Guaros de Lara defeated Malvin of Uruguay 81-69, to add its second win in Group C of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana. The game was close from the get-go, as neither team could establish a run to escape on the scoreboard. It was in the last ten minutes of the game, that the Liga de las Americas champions took a comfortable lead after a 22-16 quarter. Shooting for a 58% from the field, Heissler Guillent led the scoring for Guaros with 17 points.

Estudiantes Concordia maintained its chances of qualifying into the Semi-Finals of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana following a 79-73 win over Group C host Universo/Vitoria. In a game plagued by fouls and turnovers, the Argentinian club relied on an amazing 22-point and 11-rebound performance from Rigoberto Mendoza, and took a slight lead at the last quarter. Universo/Vitoria fought hard, but turnovers on the most important moments of the game, gave new opportunities to Estudiantes, who took advantage to the fullest and claimed the win.

Tomorrow on the last day of Group C, the two teams that will qualify to the Semi-Final Phase will be determined when Malvin faces Estudiantes Concordia and Universo/Vitoria plays Guaros.
