Capitanes and Franca add new wins, qualify to Semi-Final Phase

MEXICO CITY (DIRECTV Liga de las Americas) - Capitanes of Mexico and Franca of Brazil, added new wins in the second day of Group B and earned tickets to the Semi-Final Phase of the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas 2019. 

Capitanes dominated Soles to a 75-70 and took some kind of revenge against what had been the winner of the past Mexican National League.

 
The game was even at all times, but the home owners took the best part, guided by the hand of Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza, who scored 22 points, with eight rebounds and five assists. The Cuban center Ismael Romero was also decisive with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Mendoza and Romero were in charge of sealing the victory in the last minute of the match. The guard scored a decisive double, over the mark of the pivot Branden Dawson, subtracting 55 seconds, which put the team from Mexico City up 73-68. Then, subtracting 15 seconds, Romero added to secure the win.

With the win, the Capitanes and Franca joined Paulistano and Atenas at the Semi-Final Phase of the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas 2019.

 

In the first match of the day, Franca showed its power and dominated Real Estelí for a 100-70 win.

 
The Brazilians who returned to show their collective game and effective rotation of the ball, controlled all the quarters with 22-14, 45-28 and 72-49.

The young forward Didi was the top scorer with 27 points and six rebounds. David Jackson seconded him with 17 points and Lucas Cipolini added 13. In total there were six players from Franca with 10 or more points.

 

This Sunday, on the last day of the Group, Soles will face Estelí and Capitanes will face Franca to determine the first possition of the preliminary group
