Konsztadt: "The goal today is to put all of our energy and focus in the first match"

FORMOSA (DIRECTV Liga de las Americas) – La Union de Formosa finds itself in a known environment, as the team will live another experience of the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas. It was in the 2012 edition that Formosa hosted the Final Four of the competition and took second place of the continental league.

The excellent campaign in the last edition of the National League of Argentina, where the team fell in the Final against San Lorenzo, will allow La Unión to return to international competition.

While struggling with irregularity in the LNB, the team of Formosa will hope for outstanding performances in the New Year and the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas.

One of the recognizable figures of the team, guard Alejandro Konsztadt, knows the importance of the tournament and advises the team to go game by game.

- How is La Unión de Formosa living this return to the international arena?
- Since the club arrived to the National League 12 years ago it has shown signs of wanting to be one of the main teams in the competition. Qualifying to the continent's most important club competition is a source of pride and an incentive to continue to grow. The team is aware of the magnitude of the tournament. However we do not deviate from the National League, where we also try to be protagonist. The time to prepare the matches for the start of the tournament is already approaching. The city of Formosa has a great expectations and is excited to play a good role. Hopefully, we will continue to progress and we can organize some groups in our stadium, so our fans have the opportunity of seeing such an important tournament.

- What goals were set for the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas?
-The expectation is always that things go well, to be able to give our best individual and collective version. We are a team with little international experience. That is why we should not set ourselves a long-term goal. The goal today is to put all the energy and focus in the first match of the group and win it. After fulfilling that goal, we will set another objective.

-What do you think of the Preliminary Group, with Soles de Mexicali (MEX), Aguada (URU) and Correcaminos de Colón (PAN)?
- A month away from the start of the competition we do not have much information about the opponents, but obviously it will be a very demanding group. Soles can be considered as a favorite, because of their condition of host and several experienced players in their line-up. The Uruguayan teams are always controlled and very intense, and we know that the Central American Leagues are very athletic, something that we must take care of.
