Patrioti Levice, Cholet stay alive as Hapoel Haifa advance to Second Round

MUNICH (Germany) Hapoel B-Cure Laser Haifa guaranteed their spot in the FIBA Europe Cup Second Round, while two other teams missed their chance to advance as the Regular Season resumed on Tuesday.

Patrioti Levice took a narrow home win, and dodged elimination against Keravnos BC, 86-80.  Deshawn Freeman led his team to the win with a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double with Miha Lapornik top scoring with 23 points and added 6 assists.

Hapoel Haifa won 77-70 against OCS Swans Gmunden to improve to 4-1 in Group B as they locked up a spot in the Second Round. Devonte Upson led the Israeli club to victory with 15 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, while the visitors were eliminated with the loss.

"We had an important victory, we came to the game aggressive and we were able to execute our game," Upson added post-game. "I am happy with the result."

Finally, Cholet Basket cruised to an 89-69 home win over Kangoeroes Basket to round out the night despite the absence of Perry Ellis. The hosts had 19 points and 7 rebounds from Justin Patton in just 23 minutes of action with both sides now with 3-2 records ahead of the final week of the Regular Season.

The action continues on Wednesday with 13 more games as more teams look to cement their places in the next phase of the competition.
