Brose Bamberg, Kalev/Cramo survive and advance to complete last eight field

MUNICH (Germany) - BC Kalev/Cramo and Brose Bamberg advanced to the FIBA Europe Cup Quarter-Finals with wins on Wednesday in a dramatic conclusion to the Second Round.

Bamberg battled to the very end to take a narrow 90-86 road win against Anwil Wloclawek to guarantee their spot in the last eight with both sides going through.

Gerel Simmons produced his best performance for the visitors; scoring 24 points in just 21 minutes of action off the bench as his side completed a double over Anwil to take top spot in Group L. In the other contest, CSM CSU Oradea took a big win over Keravnos BC, 93-72, though their hopes of advancing had been ended.

BC Kalev/Cramo overcame Heroes Den Bosch 73-63 to secure their place in the Play-Offs in the decisive Group K encounter. The Estonians had double-digit scoring performances from four different players as they took over the fourth quarter to pull off the comeback.


Gaziantep continued their winning ways, taking a 97-95 victory over HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim to go undefeated in the Second Round. Codi Miller-McIntyre led the effort for the visitors with 24 points and 6 assists, while Edon Maxhuni had 28 points in vain for the German hosts as their season came to an end.

Leyton Hammonds added 17 points in the win for Gaziantep

On Tuesday, Karhu Basket's 85-76 win over Hapoel B-Cure Laser Haifa ensured BC Budivelnyk Kyiv of a place in the Quarter-Finals. Severi Kaukiainen starred with a team-high 22 points as the Finnish side continued their momentum to finish 5-1.

That took the pressure of Budivelnyk Kyiv in their group finale and it was Patrioti Levice who pulled away late to take a 82-72 triumph behind 20 points and 7 rebounds from Tre McCallum.

Cholet Basket cruised to a home win against FC Porto, 95-83 as seven players hit double figures in a decisive game for top spot in Group I with both sides already assured of going through.

Elsewhere, Niners Chemnitz managed to come through an overtime battle on the road against SCMU Craiova; winning 85-79. Kevin Yebo top scored for the victors with 17 points, while Arnas Velicka dished out 13 assists to go with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
