Two for two as SL Benfica and U-BT Cluj Napoca back up opening wins

MUNICH (Germany) - SL Benfica and U-BT Cluj Napoca opened Gameday 2 in style as they continued their winning starts in the Regular Season.

It was a repeat Tuesday night success for Cluj having raced out of the blocks on their way to a convincing 92-80 victory over BC Balkan. The home side started with a 16-2 run and never looked back as their lead peaked at 23 points.

All five starters reached double figures as
Kerron Johnson starred in posting 18 points as well as 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Darko Planinic joined his teammate in netting 18 points, while Patrick Richard was just ahead of both with a game-high 19 points.

BC Balkan were unable to repeat their upset of Enisey Krasnoyarsk from last week, though they did battle back in the second half as Jordan Callahan finished with a team-high 16 points.

SL Benfica top Group A with their 2-0 record as they claimed an 89-81 win on the road at PVSK-Veoila to leave the Hungarian side winless through two weeks. Tomas Barroso hit four triples in his 16-point display off the bench with Toure' Murry also adding 16 points along with 4 assists.

The visitors did the damage in the second period as they outscored their opponents 31-13 to establish a commanding 20-point advantage at 53-33 going into half-time.

Chris Smith top scored in the defeat with 15 points as his side rallied in the fourth quarter to reduce the margin of defeat with four other players in double figures.

The Gameday 2 action comes thick and fast on Wednesday with 14 more games taking place.
