MUNICH (Germany) - Only three spots remain in the last eight as the Second Round action comes to a conclusion this week ahead of the Play-Offs.

medi Bayreuth and Bahcesehir College joined Pinar Karsiyaka, Kyiv Basket and Ventspils in the last eight last week with six teams still in the hunt for the remaining spots to set up an exciting final week.

medi Bayreuth are already in after their comeback win on the road against SL Benfica last week, which also secured top spot as they hold the head-to-head over the teams below them. And, Benfica will have to pull off their own success away from home in a winner-goes-through encounter with Bakken Bears to decide second spot in the group.

2 CLUJ U-BT Cluj Napoca 5 3 2 60.0 392 389 3 78.4 77.8 8

4 ORAD CSM CSU Oradea 5 2 3 40.0 392 410 -18 78.4 82 7

Four-way tie, anyone? It's all up in the air in this group with all four teams remaining in contention. Tsmoki-Minsk and U-BT Cluj Napoca know that wins at home see them through, while Ironi Ness Ziona and CSM CSU Oradea have to win, and do so with specific margins. If one or the other wins, then it comes down to a simple head-to-head, but if they both win then it comes down to the group standings.

Wednesday, February 5

U-BT Cluj Napoca v Ironi Ness Ziona (Previous meeting: Cluj won 84-81)
Tsmoki-Minsk v CSM CSU Oradea (Previous meeting: Minsk won 89-73)

Permutations

If Ironi Ness Ziona and CSM CSU Oradea both register wins, all four teams would finish the Second Round with 3-3 records. The final standings in the four-way tie would be decided according the Official Basketball Rules, with overall point differential the primary tie-breaker.

Barring a four-way tie, here is what teams need to do to qualify:

  • Tsmoki-Minsk would qualify for the Quarter-Finals with a win;
    • They would qualify even in defeat by no more than 16 points if U-BT Cluj Napoca win;
  • U-BT Cluj Napoca would qualify for the Quarter-Finals with a win;
    • They would qualify even in defeat by no more than 3 points if Tsmoki-Minsk win;
  • If U-BT Cluj-Napoca win, CSM CSU Oradea would qualify with a win of at least 17 points;
  • If Tsmoki-Minsk win, Ironi Ness Ziona would qualify with a win of at least 4 points.
