Steaua man Spencer skies high for season record, headlines Team of the Week

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) – It was a sweet FIBA Europe Cup farewell for Steaua Bucuresti big man Skylar Spencer who steered the previously winless Romanian side to a victorious exit from the Regular Season with an unrivaled individual display to capture the Top Performer accolades.

The 24-year-old player put together a 20-point and 14-rebound double-double, while also dishing out 4 assists and coming up with 6 steals, as the Bucharest club registered an 87-70 win over Cherkaski Mavpy.

Having accumulated an efficiency ranking of 41 in a winning effort, Spencer laid claim to the season-best mark in the competition after one-upping Perrin Buford of Avtodor Saratov, who headlined the list previously.

"It was really amazing – we obtained a clear victory against a very good team," Spencer spoke after securing a send-off win after five consecutive defeats in Group E.

The aforementioned Buford made the Team of the Week for the third time in the Regular Season with a 23-point, 6-rebound, 7-assist and 3-block gem in an 89-79 win over New Heroes Den Bosch that put Avtodor into the Second Round.

Leading the FIBA Europe Cup leaderboard with an average efficiency mark of 31.6, the versatile forward posted his third-best game of the season with an index of 32.

On the wrong side of the must-win contest in Saratov, Den Bosch point guard Keshun Sherrill bowed out of the competition with 28 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in a losing effort.

Jalen Jenkins of Rilski Sportist was another player on the Team of the Week who delivered a top-drawer performance despite a pending exit from the FIBA Europe Cup. The big man collected 21 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and a pair of blocks, as the Bulgarian side beat FC Porto 91-79 for their first and only win of the Group Phase.

A near double-double of 22 points and 9 assists in a win over Istanbul BBSK fetched Pinar Karsiyaka guard Sek Henry a backcourt spot in the lineup. Already qualified for the Second Round, the Izmir club signed off with an 86-75 victory in the all-Turkish bout.
