Who will emerge victorious in the tightly-contested Group K?

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - The crown is there for the taking in Group K with no clear front-runner in the four-team grouping of Mornar Bar, Tsmoki-Minsk, Bakken Bears and Szolnoki Olaj.

It will be particularly interesting to see the clash of defensive-minded and offensive-minded basketball, with the Bears and Olaj ranking among the top scoring teams in the FIBA Europe Cup, and Mornar and Tsmoki making a name for themselves with sturdy defense.

Mornar Bar (MNE)

Last among the teams qualified for the Second Round in scoring, Mornar Bar have been winning games on the defensive end of the court in the FIBA Europe Cup, topping Group C with a 4-2 record in the Regular Season. The defensive-minded Montenegrin side are just one of four clubs in the competition to keep their opponents under the 70-point mark on average.

Regular Season: 1st place in Group C, 4-2 record
Offense: #24 – 72.8 PPG
Defense: #4 – 69.5 PPG
Domestic championship: 9th place in the ABA League, 5-6 record
Player to watch: The team's man-in-the-middle Uros Lukovic has been the identity-setter for Mornar, offering coach Mihailo Pavicevic elite rim protection with a league-leading 2.8 blocks per game. The 28-year-old center also averaged 12.8 points and 9.0 rebounds in just 23.5 minutes of playing time in the Regular Season.

Tsmoki-Minsk (BLR)

Tsmoki-Minsk came out on top in a tightly-contested Group E after defeating Alba Fehervar on the final day of the Regular Season, booking the first seed with a 4-2 record. Having shown they have an effective defensive system in place, the Belarusians will need to step up their game on offense, with the team currently ranked in the second half of the table in points, assists and field goal percentage. Five of their six games in the FIBA Europe Cup ended in single-digit margins and four of them have been decided by two shots or less.

Regular Season: 1st place in Group F, 4-2 record
Offense: #18 – 76.8 PPG
Defense: #8 – 73.2 PPG
Domestic championship: 7th place in the VTB League, 4-5 record
Player to watch: Chris Czerapowicz had a roller-coaster of a Regular Season with his performances anywhere on the scale from stellar to forgettable on a week-to-week basis. The 26-year-old Sweden international is averaging 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, finding ways to be useful on the court in spite the inconsistent shooting (35.5 percent from the field; 27 percent from three-point range) holding him back.

Bakken Bears (DEN)

Bakken Bears somewhat unexpectedly lost the top seed in Group B after suffering a 26-point defeat at the hands of Nevezis and wasting a double-digit head-to-head cushion from the first game against the Lithuanian side. However, the high-octane Danish club were among the hottest teams in the competition and borderline unstoppable if you factor out the dud in the last game of the Regular Season.

Regular Season: 2nd place in Group B, 4-2 record
Offense: #4 – 87.2 PPG
Defense: #26 – 82.2 PPG
Domestic championship: 4th place in the Danish Basketligaen, 5-1 record
Player to watch: DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell won the Regular Season scoring crown with a league-leading average of 22.3 points per game, while also contributing in other categories with 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He also leads the competition with 18.2 field goal attempts per game, nearly a quarter more than the second-placed Dardan Berisha with 14.8 attempts from the field.

Szolnoki Olaj (HUN)

Szolnoki Olaj will not lose too much sleep over not being able to claim the pole position in Group H, especially as they avoided the group of death in the Second Round. Despite entering the second phase of the competition as a lower seed, the Hungarian side will fancy their chances of advancing to the Round of 16 providing their relatively short rotation doesn't take a toll on the core players.

Regular Season: 2nd place in Group H, 4-2 record
Offense: #6 – 85.8 PPG
Defense: #13 – 76.3 PPG
Domestic championship: 1st place in the Division A in Hungary, 9-2 record
Player to watch: Although there's plenty of talent surrounding him, Hungarian star David Vojvoda is still the number one option for coach Dragan Aleksic, averaging 18.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game on excellent 48.8 shooting in the FIBA Europe Cup if you include the two Qualification Rounds the team had to go through.
