Sigal Prishtina complete the double over Khimik

PRISHTINA (FIBA Europe Cup) - Sigal Prishtina got ahead of the curve in the Regular Season after becoming the first team to improve to a 3-0 record, defeating Group G rivals Khimik for the second time in three days.

The Kosovan side triumphed 78-59 on the back end of a double-header against their Ukrainian opponents in a game rescheduled from Gameday 5 for logistical reasons.

Turning Point: There were hardly any turns in the game, as Sigal Prishtina came out with a pedal-to-the-metal approach and built a double-digit lead within four minutes of tip-off, as Andrew Lawrence knocked down a three-pointer to push it to 13-2.

Stats Don't Lie: The hosts benefited in a great way from their excellent ball movement and team play, finishing the game with 21 assists compared to just 11 by Khimik.

Game Hero: Andrew Lawrence was a force of nature on both ends of the floor and made things look easy for the Kosovar champions with a well-rounded performance of 15 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. He also limited Khimik leader Derrick Colter to just 3 points on the other end of the floor, forcing him to finish the game having made just 1-of-8 shots from the field.

"It is a very big step for our team, last year Prishtina had only one win and this year we are 3-0. It is not over yet, but we did well so far and I'm happy about that."Sigal Prishtina head coach Ahmet KandemirSigal Prishtina head coach Ahmet Kandemir

Bottom Line: Three wins in a row in Group G put Sigal Prishtina in an excellent position to advance to the Second Round of the competition for the very first time in club history, but it is still too early to pencil them in as one of the top two teams.

They Said: "We deserved to win tonight. As in the first two games, defense was the key to our win. It is a very big step for our team, last year Prishtina had only one win and this year we are 3-0. It is not over yet, but we did well so far and I'm happy about that." - Sigal Prishtina head coach Ahmet Kandemir.

"It was a tough game. It wasn't easy to win those two games. We played as a team and that is the key of our success. I would like to thank the fans for their big support." - Sigal Prishtina guard Andrew Lawrence.
