Lukoil Academic and Drucker decide to part ways

SOFIA (FIBA Europe Cup) - Bulgarian champions Lukoil Academic and Israeli specialist Sharon Drucker have decided to part ways following the side's elimination in the FIBA Europe Cup.

The 50-year-old playcaller had asked to be allowed to leave the position in order in to take the job with Hapoel Eilat and be closer to his family, reaching an agreement to terminate the contract with the Bulgarian club.

The vacancy at the head coach position will be filled by one of his former assistants Georgi Davidov, who got the promotion with one game remaining in the FIBA Europe Cup.

Lukoil Academic lost theoretical chances of qualifying for the Second Round by losing a close home game against Istanbul BBSK before the international window and their last fixture against U-BT Cluj-Napoca next week will be merely a formality.

The Bulgarian champions currently have the second-best record in the domestic championship at 5-1, sailing to a 95-66 win against Beroe in Drucker's farewell game.
