Kormend lock down Boras in Sweden; Parma and Pardubice also triumph

BORAS (FIBA Europe Cup) - There was no stopping Kormend at the start of their FIBA Europe Cup campaign, with the Hungarian side cruising to a convincing first-leg victory against Boras on the road in Sweden in their Qualification Round 1 matchup.

The Gasper Potocnik-coached side established their superiority early in the game en route to a 78-61 victory, as Eric Fanning collected a game-high 21 points and added 6 rebounds.

Justin Tuoyo scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the winners, while guard Marquis Wright ran the show with 15 points and 6 assists to his name, as Kormend passed the first half of their test with flying colors.

Andreas Person had 16 points for Boras, while Bisping got his tally to 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals in spite of poor 4-of-14 shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, Parma celebrated an even bigger victory over Rabotnicki, downing the visitors from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with a one-sided 88-63 scoreline.

Frank Gaines led the game in scoring with 23 points, but it was overshadowed by Codi Miller-McIntyre just missing out on a triple-double after putting together a 16-point, 9-rebound and 9-assist performance.

Chavdar Kostov and Marcus Ginyard were the main contributors for the Skopje side with 22 and 14 points, respectively.

Unlike in the other two games, there was plenty of drama in Romania, where a late go-ahead basket by Dominez Burnett after an alley-oop gave the visiting Pardubice side a 79-78 win over CSU Sibiu, leaving the tie wide open.

The first-leg action of the Qualification Round 1 will be completed over the weekend, with the remaining game between Bnei Herzliya and BM Slam taking place on Sunday.
