Donar Groningen brush aside ZZ Leiden, complete three-peat in Netherlands

LEIDEN (Dutch Basketball League) - Donar Groningen completed yet another dominant season in the Netherlands by wrapping up the domestic double with their third consecutive Dutch Basketball League title.

With the national cup already in their trophy cabinet, the Erik Braal-coached side brushed aside ZZ Leiden in the Finals, completing the 4-0 sweep with a 73-66 road victory in Game 4 on Tuesday evening.

Having treated Donar fans with stellar play throughout the season, point guard Brandyn Curry turned in another fantastic game for Groningen with a 20-point, 5-rebound and 5-assist effort in the decisive game.

The 27-year-old playmaker was named the Most Valuable Player of the DBL Play-Offs after also receiving identical honors for his Regular Season production.

Sean Cunningham was the only other Donar player in double figures with 16 points, while team captain Jason Dourisseau and Drago Pasalic chipped in with 9 points apiece.

Clayton Vette scored 20 points for ZZ Leiden, Worthy de Jong had 14, while Mohamed Kherazzi double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

It was the seventh Dutch Basketball League title in the history of the Groningen club, who also enjoyed historic success on the international stage by reaching the Semi-Finals in the FIBA Europe Cup.
