Quarter-Finals all set in Sopron

SOPRON (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2018) - Sweden grabbed the headlines during the Round of 16 at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2018, upsetting Russia to make it to the Quarter-Finals.

Despite having lost all of their Group games, Sweden continued their rich tradition of success at this stage of the competition as they won an overtime classic 79-84.

Klara Lundquist had a near triple-double of 22 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds. The Swedes will play Netherlands, who had a similarly absorbing victory as they took down Latvia 73-77.Β 

France were almost upset by Germany, but scraped through 68-66 to set up a mouth-watering Quarter-Final against fellow title frontrunners and defending champions Spain, who eased past Croatia.

Local favorites Hungary will face Serbia after brushing aside Belgium, but will be keeping an eye on Ivana Raca who finished with a sparkling 36 points from 12-of-15 from the floor in their 100-61 victory against Slovakia.

Finally, Portugal will play Italy after they had Beatriz Jordao to thank for a 61-46 win against Poland. The center came up with a tough double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds.
