Slovak Republic, Germany punch Division A tickets; Belarus and Croatia set to play for promotion

EILAT (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B) - Slovak Republic and Germany celebrated Semi-Final victories at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B to clinch promotion, while Belarus and Croatia will have a shot at redemption with an additional ticket to Division A on the line in the third-place game.

Neither of the promoted teams wasted much time in Division B, bouncing straight back up after being relegated at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship, 2016, in Portugal.

Slovak Republic, who were in command throughout the full duration of the game and led by as many as 15 points at one stage, made their way to the Final with a 60-53 victory against Belarus, who had a late run to create the impression of a close-fought contest.

Miroslava Mistinova put together a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners, while Yanina Inkina collected a team-high 15 points for Belarus, who couldn't get things going offensively against the best defense in the tournament.

On the other side of the bracket, Germany took care of business against Croatia after getting the breakthrough towards the end of the third period to inscribe a 70-52 win thanks to a defense-fueled run that lasted well into the final frame.

Satou Sabally led the game with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the Germans, Johanna Klug added a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Ana Petrak collected 15 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds for Croatia.

After being denied a place in the Semi-Finals by Czech Republic in the last game of the Group Phase, Greece will have a chance to meet their wrongdoers once again after both teams started the Classification Games for 5th-8th places with wins.

Led by Maria Fasoula and Evgenia Kollatou, Greece bounced back after a slow start against Israel and overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to triumph 71-58 over the tournament hosts.

Fasoula led all scorers with 23 points and 7 rebounds, while Kollatou came up big in a number of areas with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals to her name.

Four players scored in double figures for Czech Republic en route to a 77-71 win against Great Britain with Michaela Gaislerova and Katerina Rokosova leading the way with 15 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and Romania were victorious in the Classification Games for 9th-12th places, with the Ukrainians taking an 82-63 win against Ireland, and Romania topping Iceland 56-44.
