Day 5: Round of 16 excitingly awaits

CRETE (FIBA U20 European Championship 2017) - With the Group Phase done and dusted, attention turns to the Round of 16 with a host of interesting games scheduled on Day 5.

Perhaps the most intriguing is a matchup between Serbia and Ukraine, who both boast superstar players. It looms as a tough matchup for Ukraine but if Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk can fire, then they might be able to cause an upset.

Hosts Greece had a shaky performance against Germany on Day 3 but will hope to rediscover their best against Montenegro, who have lost their past two games.

All eyes in the Sweden versus Iceland encounter will be focused on towering big men Tryggvi Hlinason and Simon Birgander, two of the most imposing big players in the tournament.

Germany versus Turkey looms as a tough encounter with both talented teams having mixed fortunes during the Group Phase. Turkey's Furkhan Korkmaz should be better for his first run of the tournament on Day 3 and the Philadelphia 76er will be one to closely watch.

Lithuania were fairly solid in the Group Phase and will start favorites against Slovenia although a close encounter could be on the cards. France rounded into top form with a thrashing of Turkey on Day 3 and will fancy their chances against the Czech Republic.

Group winners Israel and Spain will start strong favorites against Italy and Latvia respectively.
