Turkey joy at Quarter-Finals ticket; Ullmann stars for Poland in upset

KONYA (Turkey) - There was joy in Konya as hosts Turkey punched a precious ticket to the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Quarter-Finals, while Poland's first win also sent them to the last eight.

Clara Silva was looking like possible MVP material but Portugal won't be going to the Quarter-Finals after Poland's surprise 81-63 victory - despite the center posting another tournament double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as well as 5 blocks.

It was Dominika Ullmann who proved to the the main architect of Poland's first win the in the competition after she erupted with 27 points as well as 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

Elina Aarnisalo flirted with a triple-double in the Round of 16, however her 19 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds were in vain as Finland went down 70-64 to Serbia.

Lea Bartelme didn't play on Day 3 but was back to inspire Slovenia to another victory as they strolled past Israel 84-63 with the guard contributing 13 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.

Serbia were certainly in trouble during their tense matchup with Finland, mainly due to the skills of the dangerous Aarnisalo, but a late surge took them to that six-point success. Marija Avlijas played a decisive role to record 25 points and 6 assists.
