Gibraltar get on the board at Andorra's expense; Malta double their win tally

ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2018, Division C) – Gibraltar kept the tournament hosts Andorra winless at the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2018, Division C with a convincing 64-34 victory, while Malta doubled their tally in a close-fought contest against Moldova.

Emily Feeke got the Gibraltarians on the board with a 10-point and 19-rebound double-double, as the Francisco Zafra Ruiz-coached side bounced back after the opening-day loss to Moldova.

Mireya Benitez Lopez chipped in with a team-high 19 points in the big win, while Julia Marquez Tomas top-scored for Andorra with 8 points and 12 rebounds. Following the result, the home team dropped to a 0-2 record in the standings.

Meanwhile, Malta took a big step towards securing the top spot in the Group Phase by knocking off Moldova 52-48 in a game between two undefeated teams, as Kristy Galea and Anthea Micallef collected 20 and 16 points, respectively.

For Moldova, who nearly turned around a double-digit deficit to stun their Maltese opponents in the fourth quarter, Maria Timbalari was the only player in double figures with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks.
